I just came back from an amazing weekend of fiber fun. I was able to attend the Kid ‘N Ewe (and Llama Too) Fiber Fest in Boerne, TX. Fun workshops, vendors, artists and animals all in one place.
I took a few classes including button making, drum carding, finger weaving, and intro to Estonian Lace. I came away with so much information and a new artistic outlet. As much as I love knitting and spinning and all my other projects I believe I have found a way to combine these into an art that will be more me. I used fiber and polar fleece and produced a beautiful textural piece of wall art. Now my head is busy creating new ideas to be done in the same manner. I was even asked if I could make a similar one from a picture a friend had of her animal.
So without further ado, my newest art outlet is making needle felted wall hangings. My first one is a horse. I still need to determine my mounting/framing. Currently this piece is approximately 36″ x 52″. I look forward to doing more in the near future.
